Spa Vacations Gaining Wider Interest in Wellness Travel

More spa properties are opening up in hotels and even in airports, leading to greater awareness of spas' benefits to consumers and a heightened interest in spa travel, said Lynne McNees, president of the International Spa Association.

In the past 15 years, the number of spas per 100,000 people has grown from 1.5 to 6.4. She advises travel agents to emphasize the long-term health benefits of spa vacations and acquaint themselves with resort offerings that combine the spa experience with other wellness activities.
