U.S. travel abroad up 10%; Mexico, Canada and Europe top spots

Outbound travel from the U.S. rose to 68.3 million travelers in 2014, marking a 10% increase over the previous year and the first double-digit growth in the metric since 2004, according to the Commerce Department.

It also broke the previous record of 64 million travelers set in 2007. Popular destinations included Mexico, which drew 34% of travelers; Canada, which drew 19%; and Europe, which drew 18%
