Make your Facebook biz page speak

Exposure is always a great thing for a business or business person and this trick helps you get some more.

Did you know that Facebook lets you surf around and comment as your business page? Well, it does! And every time you use this trick, you will be leaving a link back to your page somewhere on Facebook that new prospects can follow.

Here's how you slip on your business page costume:
  • Go to your business page and look at the administrator menu on the right-hand side.
  • Click on the option that says "Use Facebook as..."
  • Look at the blue top bar on Facebook Does your page's picture and name appear in the top-right corner?
  • If it does, you're now in your costume!

Here is what I want you to do now

Find yourself two or three other business pages that are complimentary to what you do and cater to a similar audience to yours, then "Like" their page. This will allow your page to post to their wall. Once that's done, check ou the discussion on the page and hop in to comment where it makes sense!

VoilĂ ! Your Facebook business page is now speaking for itself! You can now comment at your heart's content and leaving your biz page's name whenever you do.

A few tips before I go:
  • Please, avoid other agency pages. It's just tacky to promote yourself on a competitor's page!
  • DO NOT use your commenting space as an advertising billboard. The goal is to have a conversation and make connections, not create an infomercial.
  • If you see pages where travel professionals abound, don't try to compete with them for leads. Try to think of other spaces where you can find interested prospects and move on.

How do you get out of costume?

If you want to go back to your normal profile, simply go back to your biz page wall and click on "Use Facebook as..." in the right-hand menu again. OR look for the little down-pointing arrow in the blue bar at the top and select your photo and name from the list that appears in the drop-down menu.
