As a responsible home based travel agent, it is part of your duty to ensure that your clients stay safe during their vacation. Just because you’ve already booked their tickets, reserved their hotels, and planned their itinerary doesn’t mean the job is done.

When you take the time to give your clients travel tips (especially for first-time travelers), they will not only be thankful, but the likelihood of them tapping you as their travel agent again increases. It’s that little personal and caring touch that you extend towards them, making them trust and rely on you.

It’s your choice on how you will relay the tips to your clients. You can casually mention them over the phone or send them a friendly email as you bid them a happy trip. One way or another, you can give them the following advice:

1. Make a list. Help them help themselves during their trip by getting them organized. That way, they will have everything they need and avoid last-minute purchases and risk going over budget.

2. Get to the airport early. No one wants to rush checking in; it’s a stressful situation especially during holidays. If they arrive early, they can relax and even have time to check out the airport shops.

3. Pack light. It’s the simplest thing they can do, and this is important for backpackers. After all, it’s hard to enjoy the sights when you’re struggling to carry your belongings.

4. Always have emergency cash stashed. Sadly, it happens: tourists get into the unfortunate circumstance of losing their cash. Keeping extra money hidden will be a life-saver in these situations.

5. Keep a snack handy. This tip is for families traveling with small children. Kids can get cranky when they’re hungry, so having small munchies on handy will keep them busy. Parents can also avoid the scandalized stares of the other passengers.
